WHAT SOLAR SYSTEM DO I NEED?
Background: Empire Power Group is a manufacturer, supplier and installer of Specialized Solar Systems grid-interactive Hybrid Solar Systems. The group additionally comprises of The National Brand - Empire Hydro (A bottled water company) as well as the world famous Empire Water Power Tower.
When choosing a solar power system, most of Specialized Solar Systems residential(domestic) and commercial(businesses) customers choose either an off-grid or grid-connected(tied) solar system to satisfy or supplement their electrical energy requirements.
But there’s a third option, a grid-interactive Hybrid solar system. This hybrid solar system type intelligently gives you the best of both worlds. With the added convenience of a grid connected system including the ability to earn Feed-In-Tariff Credits (if your municipality allows) and the added security of a battery backup. This means that you should always have electricity, even during a power outage and bad patches of weather.
One of the main types of the solar power system is Off-grid — also known as a stand-alone power system (SAPS).It works by generating electricity from solar panels and using it to charge a solar battery via a charger controller. That electricity is then converted using an inverter so that it can power the home or business appliances. By saving the electricity in a solar battery, it is possible to run home with solar energy, even at night or during times when there is less sun exposure.
Definition: On-Grid Systems are solar pv systems that only generate power when the utility power grid is available. They must connect to the grid to function. They can send excess power generated back to the grid when you are overproducing so you credit it for later use.
Benefits: These are are simplest systems and the most cost effective to install. These systems will pay for themselves by offsetting utility bills in 3-8 yrs.
Downside: These do not provide power during a grid outage.
Definition: These systems allow you to store your solar power in batteries for use when the power grid goes down or if you are not on the grid. Hybrid systems provide power to offset the grid power whenever the sun is shining and will even send excess power to the grid for credit for later use.
Benefits: Provides power for your critical loads when the power grid is down.
